Fuquay-Varina– Mary P. Mangum, 79, passed away on Sunday at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pitt County, she was the daughter of the late James Redmond and Jennie Willoughby Peyton. Mary had a love for children, she spent many years as an educator for the Wake County Public School System. At the time of her retirement, she was the assistant principal at Durant Road Elementary School in Raleigh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 12:00 PM at Victory Tabernacle Church, 1329 US 70 West Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 10:00-11:45 AM. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William Junius Mangum, Sr., daughter, Sherri M. Hollis and husband, Joe of Middleton, DE; son, William “Will” Junius Mangum, Jr. and wife, Pebbles of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Judah Hollis, Josiah Hollis, Autumn Brown all of Middleton, DE, Josiah Farrar and Micah Farrar both of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Martha P. Freeman of Garner, Leah P. Robinson and husband, Richard of Garner, Jennie P. Mitchell and husband, Ralph of Orlando, FL, Annette P. Chitty and husband, James of League City, TX; brother, James R. Peyton, Jr. of Raleigh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley P. Carrington.
