Mary Pat Bryan Raab

GARNER-Mary Pat Bryan Raab passed away on Saturday afternoon surrounded by her family. Pat was born in Raleigh to William L. and Thelma S. Bryan. She attended Auburn University before transferring to UNC Greensboro to be near her boyfriend, Fred Raab, who attended Guilford College. She graduated with a degree in Math and Physics and prior to beginning a family, worked as one of the first computer programmers for what was then Carolina Power and Light. She and Fred were married in August of 1965 and for the next 25 years, she worked as a full time wife and mother. Once her boys had left home, she dedicated the rest of her life to helping and serving others. There are stories too numerous to mention of the people who were helped in both small and large ways as a result of her kindness and generosity. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday April 11:00 AM at Aversboro Baptist Church Garner. Mary Pat was preceded in death by her sister Joe Ann Bryan Westmoreland. She is survived by Fred Raab, her husband of 48 years and boyfriend since she was 6, her sons Matt and Mike and their wives Amy and Tara, and 4 grandchildren, Jonathan, Justin, Caitlin and Fiona. Also surviving is her sister, Phyllis Ford. Family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Garner. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to make contributions to Water for Life / James Robinson which is involved in providing clean drinking water for undeveloped areas of the world.
