Mary Strickland Potter

Greenville - Mary Strickland Potter of Greenville, NC received her crown in Heaven on the evening of June 23, 2012 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. She was born August 27, 1933 and grew up in New Bern, NC. After marrying her beloved husband, Hildred Potter, they attended Holmes Theological Seminary where Hildred became an ordained minister. Their ministry allowed them to serve more than 45 years in Eastern North Carolina as pastors in the NC Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, and was dearly loved and respected by all who came into contact with her. She is survived by her son, Gary Cecil Potter of South Carolina; Daughter, Rachel Potter McFatter of Cary, NC; Grandchildren, April Potter, Jason Hughes, Jerry Heath, Blake McFatter; Great Grandchild, Isaiah Hughes; Brothers Jimmy Strickland, Charles Strickland, Ronnie Strickland; Sisters Anna Marie Laeger and Connie Boyd Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hildred Cecil Potter; Daughter Kathy Potter Heath; Parents Ransom & Annie Strickland; Grand Daughter Sara Beth Potter; Sister Judy Faye Strickland; Brother Bobby Strickland A private service was held on Monday June 25, 2012. Mary was laid to rest in Falcon, NC next to her beloved Hildred. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family requests memorial donations be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.
