Mary "Sue" Harris Myatt

December 6, 1949 — August 12, 2023

Sue Myatt passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and daughter on the morning of Saturday, August 12, 2023.

Sue was born in Raleigh, NC on December 6, 1949. While Sue achieved great professional success with the State of North Carolina’s Department of Commerce, she was most proud of her role as a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crafts, gardening, sports, and a great cheeseburger. As a two-time cancer survivor who more recently battled with progressive dementia, she showed us all what resilience and perseverance truly look like.

Sue is survived by her husband, Jerry Myatt, and daughter, Tracie Ellis (husband Cory Niehaus).

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and compassion provided by Cadence of Garner Memory Care, Gentiva Hospice, and Rex Hospital in this period of declining health and passing.

May Sue rest in peace, knowing that she leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories that will forever remain in our hearts.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 15th from 6-8pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
