Maryn Bruestle O'Neill

Maryn Bruestle O’Neill, 53, was called home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 24, 2023. Maryn was born December 12, 1970 to Kaye Marie Bruestle and the late Darryl Bruestle. Maryn was a loving mother, wife and friend whose legacy will carry on, just as it does from her 28 years as a dedicated teacher with Wake County Public Schools. In 2004, she was recognized as the Zebulon Middle School Teacher of the year. Through the course of her career, Maryn impacted countless students and colleagues with her servant leadership and kind heart. When she retired this past June, Maryn’s beloved co-workers shared their mantra when facing any indecision, challenge, or question...“What would Maryn do.?” WWMD. She was a shining example of how educators are each

other’s best resource.

Maryn’s quiet confidence and ability to see the good in others taught everyone around her how to be better people. This is most evident in her beautiful family. Maryn’s most treasured role was that of mother, wife and grandmother. From soccer games, to baseball practices, to dance recitals, Maryn was ever present in the lives of her children, though a special spot remained in her heart for her beloved pets. She encouraged, cherished, and loved deeply all of those around her. We are all better because we knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 31, 2023, at 2PM, at Holland’s Church, 9433 Ten Ten Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Maryn is survived by her husband, Hugh O’Neill; children, Michael Hugh O’Neill and wife, Katie Perkins O’Neill, Emily O’Neill Lewis and husband, Daniel Nathan Lewis, Christopher Kevin O’Neill, and Madelyn Marie O’Neill; grandchildren, Haylee Lynn O’Neill, Harvey Briar Lewis, Jeanette, Marie O’Neill, and another on the way; mother, Kaye Marie Bruestle; sister, LeeAnn Bruestle Carroll; brother, Bradley Jon Bruestle; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
