Clayton- Maude Lee Rushing, 90, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 after a period of declining health at the Hospice Center of Wake County in Raleigh.She was the fifth of eleven children born to B. Jack Horne and Bessie Caudle Horne on June 6, 1921, in Anson County, NC. Mrs. Rushing was a gentle and loving mother and grandmother, totally devoted to her family.She was happiest when spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, playing cards, shopping and tending to her flowers.Always ready for an adventure, she also enjoyed traveling.She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, May 4 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 5 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 4226 Mills Road (Mineral Springs Church Rd.), Peachland, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her husband Albert Baxter Rushing; brothers, Woodrow Horne and Jack T. Horne; sisters, Mamie Thomas, Enola Johnson, and Ruby Thomas. She is survived by her sons;Ira Rushing and wife Carolyn and Dohn Rushing of Clayton, Leon Rushing and wife Judy of Cary; daughters Marie Sloan and husband Bruce of Clayton and Mary Robinson and husband Roland of Garner; 13 grandchildren; Allen (Kathy) Rushing, Melody (Ray) Barry, Kelly (Dale) Poole, Kim Cannada, Michelle Rushing, Chris (Misty) Rushing, David (Haeran) Robinson,Kevin (Tonia) Robinson, Bryan (Anna) Rushing, Tiffany Rushing (Dave Fair), Heather (Don) Griffin, Megan Hare, and Matt Sloan; 24 great-grandchildren; Brittany Poole (Rob Sanders), Eric Poole, Stacey and Jessica Rushing, Amber Barry, Katie, Rachel, Ryan, and Anna Cannada, Jacob Martin, Celine Rushing, Jonathan Robinson, Katherine Robinson, Grace, Faith, Mikayla and J.D. Griffin, Eelan and Aaron Hare, Allison Fair, Wyatt and Emma Rushing, Jessica Gardner, and Cole Minshew; 2 great-great grandchildren, Rebecca Kessler and Wyatt Sanders; sisters; Mae Swink of China Grove, Cornelia Stegall of Marshville, Mary Dowdle of Pocatello, ID, Bessie Lee Mills and husband Heath of Kannapolis, andEdna Hildreth of Monroe; several nieces and nephews. The family is deeply grateful to the staff at the Hospice Center of Wake County for their care of our mother.
