Miguel P. Duran, 68, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021. Miguel was born June 18, 1953, in Mexico, to Amalia Duran Perez and the late Manuel Duran. He was proud of becoming an American citizen, coming from Mexico at the young age of 13. He was not afraid of hard work. He began to work as a migrant worker picking tobacco, sweet potato, and other crops. He then decided to call Raleigh his home. He started to plant his roots with his wife of nearly 50 years, Amanda Duran by buying their 1st home in Raleigh and starting a local business. For many years, you could see them both at the Fuquay Flea Market selling Mexican products to the community. From an early age, he instilled that education is important. He was so proud to see his children become the 1st in the family to graduate from high school and then college. He made sure to always provide a stable home and to be a 100% supportive father. Miguel loved politics, news and farming. He would share stories about life and have you laughing at the end. Miguel and Amanda were inseparable, spending all of their time together with their family. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and he would have done anything for them. To him, family was the foundation for everything. Miguel always made it clear that we must remember where we came from to get to where we want to go. A mass of the resurrection will be held, Monday, October 4, 2021, at 11:00AM, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr. Raleigh, NC 27608. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 4-6PM, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road Garner, NC 27529. Miguel is survived by his wife, Amanda Duran; children, Nancy Duran and husband, Juan Guardiola, Miguel Duran, Jr. and wife, Karla, Nora Duran and husband Rich Robertson, and Mayra Surovick and husband, Mark; 10 grandchildren, Miguel Alejandro, Juan Miguel, Amanda Dominga, Rafael, Gabriela, Barbara, Kennedy, Michael, Mia and Carlile; sister, Soledad, brothers, Ramon, Guadalupe, Juventino, Rafael, Martin, Manuel, and Rojelio Duran; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
