Mildred Ray Gooch

DECEMBER 4, 1925 - FEBRUARY 6, 2011GARNER- Mildred Hunter Ray Gooch, 85, went to her heavenly home on Sunday. Born in Wake County to the late William Aubrey and Lena F. Poole Ray, she was the widow of George J. Gooch and was the last living of six children.A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at Montlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. She is survived by daughter, Georgia Willoughby and son-in-law, Philip Willoughby of Garner; sons, William H. Gooch and Eddie L. Gooch of Zebulon.She was called Mema by grandchildren, Sherry Amanda Stancil, Millie H. Richardson, Mary Nan Richardson and Melanie Dawn Faison and eleven great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, George Buddy Gooch, Jr. and daughter, Nancy Lena Hocutt.Mildred was a loving and giving mother and Mema. She was a great cook and loved serving others. We believe she never met a stranger and was loved by many. We will miss her sweet smile and sky blue eyes that could say I love you.Special thanks to the Laurels family during our mothers last month and to Hospice for their services and support.
