GARNER – Mirrel Lawrence Saunders, 81, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Garner. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. Mirrel was born in Jamaica on June 15, 1937 to the late Zachariah and Drina Lawrence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Marjorie Saunders; sister, Sylvannie Gordon; and brother, Joseph Lawrence. She is survived by her loving family which includes her daughter, Claudia James and husband, Michael of Garner; son, Dave Saunders and wife Karen of Davenport, FL; grandchildren, Nicole Aihie and husband, Jonathan, Michael Christopher James, Darrian Saunders, Alexia Saunders; great granddaughter, Chanel Saunders; step-daughter, Carrol Saunders of Jamaica; step-sons, Barrington Saunders of New York, NY, Carl Saunders of Long Island, NY, Wayne Saunders of FL; sister, Audrey Lawrence; brother, Fitz Lawrence; special cousins, Clover Anglin of Tallahassee, FL and Joyce Murray of Manchester, U.K.; and her special friends, Johnese Carmon, Sadia Ibrahim, and Enid Weatherwax.
