Mitchell Joseph Day, Jr.

December 10, 1971 — December 6, 2024

CLAYTON – Mitchell Day, 52, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2024. Born in Wayne County, Michigan, he was the son of Mitchell Day, Sr. and Ann Brown (Semeniuk).

Mitch was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a man of great generosity, kindness, honesty, loyalty and exceptional love for his family. His love for Dawn was unwavering. He served her tirelessly for 30 years, right down to bringing her coffee in bed every morning as he kissed her goodbye on his way to work. As a husband, Mitch modeled the epitome of “in sickness and in health.” He felt it a privilege to work side by side with his son, Anthony, to teach him the ins and outs of the business. He was honored that he would one day take it over, and so proud of the man he has become, crediting most of that to his beautiful daughter-in-law, Rosa. His daughter, Tiffany and son-in-law, Abe were not only travel buddies, but true friends. He raved about the incredible parents they are and the way they are raising their boys.

Mitch was a go big or go home kind of guy! He was passionate about playing pool, cooking, fast cars, and was always ready to serve his family and friends. He also loved the Chiefs, the Lions, the Mavericks, and politics. You could always count on a good political debate with Mitch! But what he loved the most was spending time with his grandsons. Whether they were playing sports or in a school event, Mitch moved heaven and earth to be with his boys. According to his grandsons, Papa was “funny, told funny stories, and was a chill guy. He was smart and a businessman. He liked trying new things and got stuff done. He liked spicy food, was up for dares, and was confident, but also knew when he sucked at something. He had strong opinions about things he loved or hated and was a great listener.”

In addition to his parents, Mitch is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Day; daughter, Tiffany Preciado and husband, Abe; son, Anthony Mastrantonio and wife, Rosa; brothers, Rob Day, Ken Day (Stacey), and Josh Brown (Becca); and his beloved grandsons, Luca, Elijah, and Isaiah Preciado. Mitch is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; all of whom he loved dearly.
