Myra Faith Watkins Walker, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2021. Born July 2, 1937, the only child of Margie Watkins, Myra left a legacy of perseverance. Married at 14 to the love of her life, Lewis Walker, and known to him as his “Doll” or “Honey”, Myra embodied a dedicated wife. In an era when women began entering the workforce, she held jobs in manufacturing, creating friendships with coworkers that still endure today. After her retirement from Data General, Myra enjoyed numerous adventures with her husband. Favorite trips included Hawaii, New York and Europe. When not taking tours, they loved local trips to restaurants, with Holt Lake being an almost weekly adventure. She was a dedicated shopper, especially during her marathon Black Friday excursions with her daughters. A long-time member of Garner Church of God, Myra enjoyed singing in the choir. Exemplifying the song “Living by Faith”, she persisted in her faith through the loss of her teenage son, Daniel. As a working mother of three, Myra spent her spare time sewing, canning and baking her famous 10 Layer Chocolate Cake (no, you shouldn’t eat the “crunchies”-those are toothpicks). Myra was a loving grandparent, adoring her two great-grandsons, who both took her outspoken nature in stride, making her laugh often at their antics. Myra relied on her favorite verse, John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Having run her race with endurance, she entered Heaven rejoicing to see those gone before. Myra is survived by her daughters, Deborah Walker Williams (husband Ken Albrecht) and Rhonda Walker, grandsons Danny Williams (Christy) and Bronson Williams, and two great-grandsons Marshall and Mack Williams. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lewis Howard Walker, son Daniel Thomas Walker, mother Margie Margaret Watkins and son-in-law Terry Williams. Family will receive friends Monday, July 12 at 7:00 pm at Garner Church of God. Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, July 13 at 11 AM at Garner Church of God with graveside service at Raleigh Memorial Park to follow.
