Myrle Lee Fields

Myrle Lee Fields passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Oaks of Mayview in Raleigh, NC.  Myrle was born on May 29, 1921 in Coward, SC to Hettie Beatrice Floyd and Reddin Irby Lee.  In her early career she worked as a nurse and later worked for Archives and History until retirement. Survivors include her daughter, Paula Taylor and her husband, Douglas, of Garner; grandchildren, Laura Inscoe and husband, Danny of Wake Forest, Kent Taylor and wife, Erin, of Arlington, Va. and Whitney Fields of Williamsburg, Va.; a brother Kent Lee and his wife, Mimi, of Charlottesville, Va.,  a sister, Ethelyn Spencer, of Hilton Head, SC and a sister-in-law Mary Catherine Lee of Norfolk, Va.  She also leaves behind four great grandsons along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, J.M.”Buddy” Fields; a son, Julian Fields, Jr; a brother, Felton Lee; two sisters, Miriam Rollins and Betty Egerton. Myrle was a fun-loving woman who adored and enjoyed her family, maintained lasting friendships and will be remembered as witty, spry, intelligent, and well-read .  She loved ACC Sports (especially NC State Basketball), and would often be heard critiquing the games. She enjoyed discussing politics and visiting with family and friends. Myrle lived fearlessly and left an imprint on the hearts of many. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, at 10 am at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27606.  A funeral service will follow at 11 am, burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Oaks at Mayview, Transitions LifeCare and Dr. James Parsons. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC  27606.
