Raleigh - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Nan Davis Moore departed this world to be with her Lord on April 30, 2014. Nan had long been retired after a lengthy career in state government. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Mary Vann Davis of Goldsboro, and was born in that town on Flag Day - June 14 - in 1925. She attended Pikeville High School, and upon graduation studied at N. C. State University. She was later employed as a department manager with Sears of Goldsboro, and then in several roles with state government in the Department of Revenue and the Department of Transportation. She was an active volunteer, and served on the board of directors of Raleigh Community Housing in the 1960s, and as a volunteer with Rex Hospital. She had a long-standing interest in politics and over the years also donated her time and considerable energies as a volunteer for various state and national political campaigns. She is survived by her husband, William P. Moore of Raleigh; daughters, Mary Ann McMurtrey of Grifton and Nancy Carol Mayo of Raleigh; grandchildren Jay Price (Alexis) of Chapel Hill, James Wiley Price II of Grifton, Dr. Jeffrey Frazier (Wendy) of Fredericksburg, VA; Tammy Frazier and Mary Vann Roberson (Bryan) of Raleigh; brother R. V. Davis (Jean) of Kenly; sister Hazel Van Roekel of Goldsboro; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial of Nans life will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh on Saturday, May 3, at 11 AM. Burial at Montlawn Memorial Park will be private. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 until 11 AM Saturday. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh.
