Nancy Delaney (née Dwan) passed away on September 24, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 89. Born on May 11, 1935, in Holy Cross, Ireland, Nancy's vibrant spirit and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Nancy is remembered as a warm and welcoming presence, often described as the life of the party. Her adventurous spirit saw her living across the globe, from her native Ireland to New York, Hawaii, Kenya, Tanzania, and finally settling in Florida. Nancy's love for sports was evident in her prowess as a championship golfer and tennis player, earning respect in clubs worldwide. Her hobbies also included gardening, playing the piano, and singing, which brought joy not only to her but to all who had the pleasure of listening.
She was a devout member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, Florida, and later Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh, NC, where she was actively involved in the community.
Nancy was a cherished alumna of Ursuline Convent in Thurles, Ireland, where she completed both her primary and high school education.
She leaves behind a loving family: her son Kevin Delaney and his wife Terry, her daughter Sharon McCloud and her husband Mike, her grandchildren Joy Caldwell, Ann (Casey) Woods, Michael (Samantha) Delaney, Katherine Delaney, Conner McCloud, Pierce McCloud, as well as her great-grandchildren Christopher, Theresa, and Mason. Nancy is also survived by her brothers Kevin and Liam Dwan, and sister Kathleen (Dwan) Beresford. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerry Delaney, granddaughter Macie Ann McCloud, her parents William and Bridget Hanley Dwan, siblings Breda, Ned, Father Martin, Jack, Dennis, Rita, Mary, and Michael Dwan.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Lee Funeral Homes, Garner, North Carolina.
