Nelda Partin Byrd

RALEIGH - Nelda Partin Byrd, 87, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023.

Nelda was born and raised in Harnett County and graduated from Angier High School. She was the daughter of the late Yancy and Mary Partin. Nelda was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh and retired from the Employment Security Commission after 35 years of service.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home.

Survivors include daughter, Susan Byrd of Raleigh; and brother, Willard Partin (Shirley) of Sanford. In addition to many nieces and nephews, she had three very special nieces, Cindy Allen, Beverly Coats, and Lisa Butler. She was preceded in death by Susan’s father, Newton Conray Byrd; siblings, Leo Partin, Reba Webb Thornton, Elma Wall, Alonzo Partin, Clayburn Partin, Mildred Honeycutt, and Janice Butler.

The family would like to thank Transitions of Wake County and Windsor Point of Fuquay-Varina, especially Charlotte McDougald of Windsor Point for the special comfort and care she provided.
