BENSON-Nellie Rose Tart, 76, of Johnston County, died at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield on Friday. She was born the 9th of 11 children to Eunice Bell West Tart and Jasper D. Tart near Dunn, NC in the western part of Sampson County. At age 6, the family moved to Baltimore, MD, where she spent most of her childhood. She returned to NC in 1985 and spent the remainder of her life in Wake and Johnston Counties. She graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. She was a licensed drug addiction specialist, and was last employed in that capacity by Durham County, NC. Ms. Tart is survived by her three children, James Hendrix Midgett, Jr. of Benson, NC, Carol Leigh Midgett Parker of Richland, WA and Joseph Eugene Midgett of Preemption, IL; grandsons, Brandon Midgett and Aaron Parker; sisters, Ruth Dillard of Raleigh, Inez Dillinger of Baltimore, MD and Judy Thomas of Clayton; brothers, Earl Tart of Claremont, FL and JD Tart of Baltimore, MD. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at 3:15 pm at Stoney Run PFWB Church cemetery, 12481 Harnett-Dunn Hwy, Dunn, NC 28334.
