GARNER – Nellie Watson Cahoon, 92, passed away Tuesday at The Laurels of Forest Glenn. A native of Pamlico County, she was the daughter of the late Kelly and Ada Mercer Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Cahoon and by her brothers, Ebern, Olen, Merritt and Roy Watson. Nellie is survived by her daughters, Paula Benton (Ruffin) of Brevard, Cristi Cahoon of Raleigh, Lori Pendergraph (Andy) of Fuquay-Varina and a son, Frank Watson Cahoon (Vera Wade) of Glen Lyn, Virginia; grandchildren, Kelly Tynch, George and Sam Benton, Lennon Singleton, Summer and Chris Hunt, Erin and Camerin Pendergraph and Frank Wade Cahoon and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Eggleston of Lovingston, Virginia, Ruby Allsbrook of Raleigh, Bertie (Ron) Dougherty of Asheville and brother, Kelly Watson of New Bern. She had the joys of many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC on Friday evening, December 4, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Funeral will be held at the Lowland Church of Christ in Lowland, N.C. at 11 am on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Merritt Watson, Nellie’s nephew will officiate. Burial will be in Mesic, N.C., at the Bay Creek Cemetery, immediately following the funeral service. The staff and care-givers at The Laurels of Forest Glenn filled the last few years of Nellie’s life with affection and watchful care and the family is deeply appreciative to all of you. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Nellie may be made to Transitions Hospice Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 26707 or your favorite charity.
