Nelma Denning Best (Nell) Stephenson

February 9, 1933 — March 14, 2016

RALEIGH – Nell Stephenson, passed away Monday at Transitions LifeCare. Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late George and Allie Denning. She was the wife of the late Coleece H. Best and the late William Stephenson. She was also preceded in death by her son Darrel Best and 8 siblings. Nelma retired from the State of North Carolina with 30 years of service and then worked in real estate for several years. She was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday at Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Survivors include her son, Ronnie Best and wife, Linda; daughter, Kim Adams; granddaughters, Kasey Jordan and husband, David, Lindsey Adams, Katy Adams and grandson, Graham Best; brothers, J.D. Denning and wife, Minnie, and Ollin Denning. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by her caregivers and for the support of her many friends. Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 5029 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.
