Norwood Ennis

GARNER – Vilas Norwood Ennis, 90, died at his home Saturday.  He was the son of the late Charlie Cleveland Ennis and Mae Johnson Ennis. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow with military honors at the Leach-Taylor Cemetery. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Ennis and special friend, Doug Deal; son, Craig Ennis and wife, Jennifer, all of Garner; grandchildren, Natalie Ennis Turrone and husband, Carl of Clayton and Cameron Taylor Ennis and fiancé, Alex Canady of Garner; great-grandchildren, Levi Gregory Turrone and Paige Taylor Turrone. On January 2nd, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Taylor Ennis. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Tom, Cecil and Weldon Ennis and a sister, Helen E. Sanders. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 pm Thursday at the church prior to the service.
