Norwood Gordon Thornton, 73, died Thursday.A Memorial Service will be 6:00 PM Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jewell Keene Thornton of Raleigh; son, Jerry Thornton and wife, Martha of Knightdale; grandchildren, Candler Thornton and his wife, Megan and Hayley Thornton; sisters, Linda Reardon of Smithfield and Dixie Barbour of Four Oaks. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Sutton Buff and Ann Denning and brothers, Bobby Thornton, J. M. Thornton and Douglas Thornton.
