December 21, 1919 - November 29, 2012 Raleigh - Mrs. Odessa Poston Little passed away Thursday, November 29th. She was a long time Raleigh resident. Born in Hunterville, NC to the late Sallie Miller Poston and Jesse Everette Poston. Odessa grew up in Statesville, NC. She graduated from DeMatt High School in 1936. She and her husband, the late Hillmer James Little, moved to Raleigh, NC and joined Westminster Presbyterian Church where she has been a member for sixty-five years. At Westminster, she was a Bible leader, circle chairman, and one of the first women to serve as an elder in the Presbytery. Serving in many capacities, she received an Honorary Life Membership in Presbyterian Women. When in Lake Placid, FL during the winter, she and her husband were members of First Presbyterian there. Known for her many craft talents, her cooking, and serving, she remained active until her health declined. Odessa will be truly missed by the many who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Sue L. Caviness of Raleigh, NC; sons, Tommie L. Little and wife, Marilee of Greenville, NC and Jimmy Little and wife, Sherri of Benson, NC; a sister, Joyce Moore of Statesville, NC; six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Her memorial service will be held Sunday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
