Oscar Allen Elmore, Jr.

Raleigh - Oscar Allen Elmore, Jr., 80, of Raleigh died Thursday, April 11th, at Rex Healthcare. Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Oscar Allen Elmore, Sr. and Berta C. Elmore. Oscar was a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy. He owned and operated Northside Pharmacy for 43 years. After his retirement in 1997, he devoted his time and efforts in many capacities to Emmanuel Baptist Church where he was a member for 58 years. His enthusiasm for life and civic work will be remembered by many. He is survived by his wife, Eva Ruff Elmore; sons, Allen Dale Elmore and Thomas Reid Elmore and his wife Wanda M. Elmore; grandchildren, Jason, Allen, Alex, and Ashton Elmore; sister, Susie E. Meadows and her husband Donald. There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 14th , at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Monday, April 15th , 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 2100 Nobel Rd., Raleigh, NC 27608.
