Owen Dwight Moss

November 30, 1945 — September 4, 2023

Owen “Dwight” Moss, 77, of Garner, passed away September 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth (Moss) and Thad Goss and his daughter, Lisa Moss Duncan. Dwight is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jacquelyn Evans Moss, and his sons, Jeremy Moss (Marie) and Randy Moss (Rachel); his many grandchildren whom he adored: Rebecca Blanton (Taylor), Tyler Duncan, Jackson Moss, Kaleb Moss, Eli Moss, and Ethan Moss. He is additionally survived by his great grandchildren, Raelyn, Charlie, and Lincoln Blanton who brought him much joy.

Dwight lived his life as a walking testimony to his love of the Lord through a life filled with service to others. His faith was lived out through his continual and selfless service to his family, friends, local church, involvement in community ministries, and in his time of service to our country through the Air Force.

Dwight always kept his priorities of faith and family and used those to build an abundant and fulfilling life, by which many were blessed. Ultimately, Dwight was the epitome of a family man who strove to make his family feel loved and special and it was in this endeavor that he proved most successful. He was always apt to crack a joke, dote on his loving wife and kids, and support his grandchildren in whatever interests they became involved in- always beaming with pride from their accomplishments big and small. He never took for granted the simple pleasures in life, from a warm peach cobbler and Mexican food any day of the week, to securing all the treasures eBay could muster. He enjoyed traveling with his family to see what nature had in store for them through camping and fishing expeditions; a few of which his wife was happily willing to bow out of in the middle of the night! Throughout this life, he was known by many names lovingly given by others from Nookie and Friend to Husband, Dad, Grandad and even “Brenda” by his great grands- but he would tell you his most important identity was Saved child of the Almighty God. And in this promise, his family can rest in the comfort that while he will be missed on this side of eternity, they will meet once again, healed and eternally whole.
