Patreacia “Pat” Smith Warren, 76, of Raleigh, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center. Pat was born February 17, 1947, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was a 1965 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School where she was proud to be a cheerleader among other activities. After High School, Pat attended Peace College in Raleigh but soon elected to go to work for Dr. John A. Wheliss, MDPA, Opthamologist in Raleigh, NC, from 1966 to 1994 where her working career ended due to a major medical event that would follow her the rest of her life. Pat was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she enjoyed many close friends, good fellowship, and especially enjoyed in participating in the Living Christmas Tree production for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Lucille Smith; and her son, Richard Lane Warren. Pat is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Lane “Bill” Warren of Raleigh; her sister, Beverly S. Moore and husband, Jay of Asheboro; her brother, Rusty Smith and wife, Vicki of Pine Level; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service will be held in Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, NC in the near future where the family will receive friends and family at the graveside. The grave location is Plot: Hillside North, Memorial ID: 151702771. The exact date will be posted at www.bryan-leefuneralhome.com
Pat loved her family and friends, especially her long-term friends from Roanoke Rapids, NC, her church, and NCSU sports teams. She also had a longtime fondness for her trips to the beach in Nags Head, NC and was always ready for a “road trip” there to sun and surf fish in the white sands.
Pat will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by check to: NC State Natural Resources Foundation, Campus Box 8010, Raleigh, NC 27695; in the memo line on the check: “Ray Smith Endowed Scholarship.”
