Patricia Ann Rimmer

February 18, 1939 — December 7, 2023

Patricia Ann Rimmer went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec 7, 2023 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Benson, NC, following a few years of declining health.

Pat was born in Johnston County where her father, Isaac Hinton King, and step-mother, Mary Parker King, had a farm. She was raised in a Christian, hard-working home, and she epitomized a “Girl Raised In The South”. She attended Cleveland School for grades 1 - 12. She retired in 1996 from a career in Accounts Payable , working many years with Research Triangle Institute, and Northern Telecom. After retirement, she ran an in-home day care center for 6 years, where she kept preschool children in the community. She loved kids, and was able to continue nurturing the maternal instincts she developed raising four children of her own. One of which, was her grandson, Adam. She adored him, and was grateful to be able to have spent a lot of time with him in his early years. Pat lived her life as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She loved going to church, and enjoyed being active in the community with her church family and friends. She instilled that love of Jesus, and her faith, in all of her children, who are very grateful she did. She was very outgoing, as was evidenced by her consistently striking-up conversations with perfect strangers in the grocery store. She often spoke of being so happy she spent her teenage years in the simple, carefree fun of the 1950s. Her family would describe her as a “good ol’ country” cook. She received that skill honestly, learning under the tutelage of her step-mother, Mary. She loved her family so very much, and loved every chance they could find of all getting together again. Her Shih Tzu, Sadie, was the apple of her eye, as was her “too many to count”

grand dogs over the years, whom she would cheerfully keep for a weekend. She was the loving , dedicated caregiver of 35 years, for her daughter, Terry, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in 1984. She was so thankful to have her daughter, April, who is a nurse, faithfully by her side, taking care of her affairs, in her waning years.

She is survived by her daughter April Stephenson, and husband, Sammy; her daughter, Terry Massengill; her son, Chris Rimmer, and wife, Jenn; also by her three grandsons, Adam Bricker, Ayden Clark, and Owen Clark, and her brother Craig King and his wife, Annette and daughter Tonia. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Massengill Tucker.

A memorial service will be held at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Samaritan's Purse, or a local SPCA.
