Patricia Keene Yelvington

GARNER - Patricia “Pat” Keene Yelvington, 83, of Garner, NC, died on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha West Keene Upchurch and Ernest Guy Keene; her stepfather, Nathan Worth Upchurch; and her grandparents, Cecil Moore West and Arthur N. West, Sr., who helped raise her after her father’s tragic death in 1938. Pat graduated from Four Oaks High School (Junior Class President), Harbarger Business College, and Meredith College, and had a long, distinguished career with NC Department of Correction, Division of Prisons. She was an active member of Garner First Presbyterian Church, serving in many of its ministries. She enjoyed singing, long brisk walks, and tending to her roses. Pat is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, P. Kelly Yelvington Luter and Bret Thomas Luter, of the Cleveland community, Clayton, NC; and her grandson - the joy of her life - Thomas Keene Luter, of NC State University, Raleigh, NC. She also leaves behind many Draper, Smith, Lamm, and West cousins. At Pat’s request, no funeral service is planned. Her ashes will be interred at Corinth United Methodist Church, Four Oaks, NC at a later date.
