Paul Anthony Szalanski

May 14, 1977 — January 24, 2021

Paul Anthony Szalanski, age 43, departed this life and joined his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2021 Paul was a devoted husband and father, a cherished son and brother, and, most importantly, a faithful Christian servant. Considered the “rock” and “angel” of his family, Paul was known for his quiet wisdom, humble patience, good humor, and his knack for problem solving. He worked as Vice President of Operations at Crenshaw Consulting Engineers, where he began his career in 1996. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed playing golf, watching Marvel movies, playing video games with his daughter, tinkering with home projects, volunteering, and creating magical everyday memories with his family. Professionally and personally, Paul was admired for his intellect, skillfulness, and especially for his strength of character. That strength was demonstrated time and again through his friendships, service, and ministry to others. He was active with Holland’s United Methodist Church in Raleigh where he served in numerous leadership capacities, particularly with the Methodist Men’s group and in children’s ministry. Paul is survived by his beloved wife and sweetheart of more than 20 years, Heather Lowe Szalanski; his precious 12-year-old daughter, Riley; his parents, Bob and Rosa Szalanski of Hickory; and his sister, Robin Szalanski of Hickory. Funeral services will be held at Holland’s United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Although the family will not be present for a traditional visitation, Paul will lie in state on Friday from 2:30 PM - 7:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner for the public to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by check payable to Holland’s United Methodist Church at 9433 Ten-Ten Road, Raleigh, NC 27603 or online at hollandsumc.org. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
