Paul Glenn Harper

July 28, 1945 — May 4, 2024

FUQUAY-VARINA – Paul “Glenn” Harper, 78, of Coats passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bertie Harper; his sister, Lois Clark; lifetime friends, Doris and Sherwood Pope, and nephew, Lee Clark.


Glenn served in the US Army, then worked for Stackhouse as a top-notch lineman for many years, and eventually retired with the Town of Benson. He had a soft spot for horses, rodeos, and the cowboy lifestyle, but above all, he treasured his family, especially his grandkids. Without fail, he attended the Benson Gospel sing each year, a tradition close to his heart.


Glenn is survived by his daughter, Sharessa Pope (Shelton); grandchildren, Savannah Gregory (John) and Dalton Pope (Briana); great-grandchildren, Riley Sloan, James Gregory, and Easton Pope; sister, Joyce Stephens (Pete), and several nieces and nephews.


Friends and family will be meeting at the home of Julie and Jerry Gilchrist of Fuquay-Varina.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 9 in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday, May 9 from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transitions Hospice or Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3217 Wilbon Rd. Fuquay-Varina, NC.
