AUG. 28, 1930 - JUL. 3, 2011 RALEIGH - Peggy Fowler Jones, 80 of Raleigh, joined her husband of 60 years, Gordon L. Jones on Sunday, July 3, 2011. She died peacefully after a short illness in her home in the company of her daughter, Joy. Since the sudden death of her only beloved husband and life-long companion on April 11, 2011, she had been in declining health. Do not mourn for her because she is now with the man she cherished in the home of our heavenly Father. Her faith in God is revealed in the lines of her favorite poem, I Am Free Dont grieve for me, for now Im free, Im following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. God wanted me now. He set me free. Peggy is survived by her only daughter, Joy N. Jones. She is also survived by her brother, Harlow and his wife, Nancy, their son, Stewart and his wife, Amy plus their two sons, Austin and Daniel. Peggy was the daughter of the late Herbert C. Fowler and Ruby Wrenn who preceded her in death many years ago. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1959 and will be missed by all of those who loved her and her great cooking and compassion. She believed in hard work and providing the best for her family. She began working in finance in her teens after graduating from Garner High School and continued until she retired and then began to run bus tours for many years along the East Coast. Viewing and visitation will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5020 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, NC, on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 11:00 to 12:00 in the morning with the service immediately following the visitation. The reverends Mark Palmer, Bob Coats and Paul Jones will be officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Gordon in Montlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: Wake County SPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
