Peter Bauman Haney

RALEIGH - Peter Bauman Haney of Raleigh, NC passed away on January 17th, 2023, at the age of 73.

Peter was born October 10th, 1949, to John Thomas Haney Jr. and Joan Elizabeth Bauman as the third of five children and raised in the Catholic faith at their family home in Manchester, CT. Peter attended Syracuse University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Forestry before going on to start his own family in Middletown, CT. Marching to the beat of his own drum, Peter was never one to go unnoticed. His personal ethos and effortless humor was endearing to many who knew him. A lover of books, trains, antiques, and German culture, Peter would often be found tinkering with antique radios or working on one of his many Volkswagen vehicles. His distinct appreciation for gourmet foods meant that he was never far from a cheese tray and glass of wine. Always the hard worker, Peter endeavored to provide for his family and was forever generous in his support for those he cared for. In later years, he enjoyed spending quality time with his beloved dog, Remy, and cat, Inky. Though he has now passed, the imprint he left upon those who loved him will remain forever.

He is loved and dearly missed. Peter Haney is survived by his three children, Andrea Haney Bushway, Gretchen Rogers Endara, and George Oliver Haney; his grandchildren, Julion Galo Endara, Raya Lucia Endara, Willem Ward Bushway, and Oliver Hawley Bushway; as well as his four siblings, John Haney, Claudia Brown, Joan Hogan, and Cynthia Desmond.

A memorial to honor Peter’s life will be held June 30th, 2023, at 3:00 pm Paine’s Creek Landing 143 Cedar Hill Rd, Brewster, MA 02631.
