Phillip Mccoy Pearce

September 13, 1941 — October 3, 2023

Phillip McCoy Pearce, 82, passed away surrounded by his family on October 3, 2023. Born to Ivey Owen Pearce and Lillie Frances Pearce on September 13, 1941 in Franklin County, North Carolina, Phillip was the youngest of 6 children. Upon graduating high school, he began his career at Dorothea Dix Hospital as an intake nurse. On January 5, 1970, Phillip joined the Raleigh Fire Department, where he continued to work for 20 years, ultimately retiring as a Raleigh Fire Engineer on February 1, 1990. In the latter years of his life, Phillip enjoyed working on vehicles, gardening, playing golf, spending time at the lake, and helping others.


Phillip is survived by his sister, Dolores Chalk of Zebulon, NC; son, Doug Pearce (Dixie) of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Christie Allen (Clay) of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Dexter Pearce (Kristen) of Zebulon, NC, Darby Atkins (John) of Apex, NC, and Dylan Allen of Durham, NC; two great-grandchildren; and his dog, Annie.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivey Owen Pearce and Lillie Frances Pearce; brothers, Donald Pearce and Frederick Pearce;  sisters, Mary Hinnant and Doris Mullen Raper; and grandson, Taylor Allen.


A graveside service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023.
