Rachel Faye Johnson Godwin

Rachel Faye Johnson Godwin, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2020. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Casey and Bessie Johnson of Willow Springs. She and her husband, Alton “Ray” Godwin, moved to Guam in 1968 and lived there for over 32 years and attended Harvest Baptist Church and Bayview Church. Rachel enjoyed working for Continental Micronesia until her retirement. Upon their return to North Carolina, she and Ray were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church, Garner, North Carolina for many years. With the coronavirus concerns and respect for others, the service is delayed and the life celebration will be announced at a later date when gatherings are more appropriate. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Renee Godwin of Houston, TX and Cheryl Lynn Godwin of Greenville; son, Anthony Ray Godwin of Tamuning, Guam; a special son, Jun Lin of Tamuning, Guam; sister, Bettie Johnson Thigpen of Garner; grandchildren, Krystal Lynn Mitchell and husband, Logan of Houston, TX, Dawn-Marie Bagley and husband, Matthew of Pantego and Ryan Tyler Boyd of Tamuning, Guam; great-grandchildren, Sophie Marie Bagley, Landon Ray Bagley, Tyson Cole Bagley and Lyndsie Renee Mitchell; furbabies, Saydie Mitchell, Reese’s Godwin, Tyler Boyd, Josie Bagley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Godwin, her son, Tommy Howard Godwin of Tamuning, Guam and brothers, Paul Ray Johnson of Willow Springs, Jerry Wayne Johnson of Willow Springs, and sister, Dorothy Johnson Young of Raleigh.
