RALEIGH – Rachel Maness Bailey, 89, passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
She was born in Moore County on October 2, 1933, the daughter of the late, Clifford and Glennie Maness.
Rachel was a friend to all, especially to her neighbors at the Autumn Spring Senior Living complex. In her spare time, Rachel enjoyed shopping at Goodwill where she’d always find a deal. Quilting and sewing were also a cherished pastime of Rachel’s. Of all her hobbies, Rachel’s favorite was her family – being a mother was her greatest fulfillment.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Moril Bailey; sons, Carlton Bailey and Phillip Bailey; sisters, Nellie Cole and Helen Garner; and her brothers, Frank Maness, Jack Maness, William Harold Maness, Joe Earl Maness, and Eugene Maness.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Freeman and husband, Ronald of Knightdale, Lisa Freeman of Clayton; sons, Stephen Bailey of Clayton, and Ken Bailey and wife, Sandra of Wendell; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh. Burial will follow in Historic Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the funeral home.
