Ralph G. Duran

RALEIGH – Ralph Gavin Duran, 87, a retired railroad conductor, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center. Born in Arizona, he was a member of the 82nd Airborne and served in the Korean War. While in the service, he boxed for the 82nd airborne team and went on to box professionally. A memorial service will be held Sunday, 4:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-4:00 prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frances J. Duran; his four children, Tony Duran, Art Duran, Kaindais Miller and Rosie Leach; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by daughter, Yvonne Jacob.
