Ralph “Mason” Hiester, 91, more affectionately known as “Honey” passed away peacefully in his home on March 20th. Mason was born in Warren, Ohio and moved to North Carolina in 1993. He was a car fanatic and loved nothing more than to fix up an old race car. He was better known in those days as ‘Racin’ Mason.’ He was a man of few words, but everyone around always knew he shared a great love for his family. A memorial mass celebrating Mason’s life will be held on Friday, March 26th at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 Hillsborough St. Raleigh, NC 27603. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the American Heart Association in Mason’s honor. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lorna; father, Ralph; and son, Brad. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Anne Hiester; his three children, James Hiester, Susan (Steve) Biggs, and John (Lisa) Hiester; as well as his six grandchildren, James (Rita) Hiester, John (Melanie) Hiester, Amanda (Bennett) Johnson, Ashley Hiester, Julianne Biggs, and Tori Biggs. He also had three great grandchildren, Eli, Landon, and Mason Hiester. . He also leaves behind a brother Jerry (Joyce) Hiester and his 2 nieces Lori Foernzler and Lee (Brian) Wortman.
