GARNER – Randall Gilmore Johnson, 82, passed away Wednesday. A native of Nash County, he was the son of the late Gilmore and Mary Chappell Johnson. Randall was the recipient of the Moorhead Scholarship and attended UNC Chapel Hill before life called him away to the Army. After his proud service to our country, he returned and earned his B.S. from NC State University becoming a lifelong Wolfpack Fan. Randall was a devout Christian and proud member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church. Growing up in Garner, he was a Garner advocate. He was a lifetime member of the Garner Civitan Club. Under his leadership role as District Lieutenant Governor, he helped the club charter two additional clubs. He also served countless volunteer hours through the Garner Chamber of Commerce, representing local businesses in the Garner community. Relationships meant the world to Randall. They came easy for him, and he had many. If you knew him, you loved him. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 4:00 pm at Aversboro Road Baptist Church. A committal service will be held at 9:00 am Monday at Salisbury National Cemetery. Friends will gather from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. Survivors include his sister, Elaine Johnson Wall of Woodville FL; niece Dawn Brown and husband, Ralph; nephew, Dean Wall. His close personal friends Jane and Justin were there at his side to the end. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Rd, Garner, NC 27529.
