Randolph "Randy" Paul Meyer

April 9, 1953 — December 14, 2024

Randolph “Randy” Paul Meyer, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away on December 14th, 2024, after a heroic fight with cancer. There have been immeasurable miracles as he defied countless odds.

Born on April 9th, 1953, in Park Forest, Illinois, to Clarence Henry Meyer and Anita June Steege Meyer. He attended college at Georgia Tech, where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. His work took him to numerous locations across the United States. Hardworking and passionate, Randy took great pride in his work. He found immense joy in problem-solving and organizing. Always prepared, committed to excellence and delivering on his commitments. Tasks were seen as a challenge and puzzle to be solved, much like his fight this past year.

Randy’s life was a reflection of his deep faith in God. His goal was for people to see Christ through his life and the way he lived. He was selfless and generous, consistently putting others’ needs before his own. He would help before being asked and would truly give the shirt off his back to help someone else. He believed the best in people and made it his mission to connect with anyone placed in his path. He sought to learn their story and share the gospel.

Randy was a strong ally to his friends and a guardian to his family. He was easy-going until he felt someone had mistreated or been unjust to his family, at which point he was a force to be reckoned with. Randy loved his family, friends, good food, good bourbon, good music and the beach.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Maria Meyer, of 49 ½ years; children Brooke Listmann (Doug), Daniel Meyer (Hillary), Gillian Talley (Eric), and seven grandchildren: Nate Listmann, Cali Listmann, Georgia Meyer, Sullivan Meyer, Welles Meyer, Cailyn Talley, and Elizabeth Talley. He is also survived by his siblings, Anita “Bonnie” Vann (Jim), Daryl Cole (Kevin), and Robert “Bob” Meyer (Cinda). Randy had countless close friends that became family through the years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 19th, at 3:00 PM at Mid-Way Baptist Church, 6910 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603. A visitation will follow the service in the Sorrell Hall at Mid-Way Baptist Church from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Randy constantly gave to others without ever expecting anything in return. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to someone in need this holiday season.

Sometimes the best life lived is shown by how someone faces death. Randy humbly set the standard for both. His faith has now become sight.
