ANGIER- Rassie Kearney Gregory, 87, passed away at Universal Healthcare in Fuquay-Varina on Friday surrounded by his loving family. A native of Harnett County he was the son of the late Charles and Polly Matthews Gregory. Kearney proudly served his country in the United States Army before working as a sales manager for JJ Barnes Incorporated of Fayetteville for over 30 years. Upon retiring, he worked at Bryan-Lee Funeral home as a funeral assistant for 13 years. Kearney was an avid farmer who loved working in his garden from which he generously gave the bounty to friends, family, neighbors and the Helping Hands Mission in Raleigh. Kearney is a former member of the Angier Kiwanis club where he enjoyed helping others; however, his love to serve did not stop there. He was a fire fighter for the Angier Volunteer Fire Department, and he delivered Meals on Wheels to the people of Angier as well as volunteering at the Angier Area Food Pantry. Kearney also donated over 12 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. Kearney was a longtime member of Angier Baptist Church and helped with yard maintenance over the years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, 2712 Oak Grove Rd., Angier. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Survivors include his special friend and sweetheart of 23 years, Eunice Rhiner of Angier; son, Tracy Gregory and wife, Laurie of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Vera Inez Gregory and companion, Ian Yuile of Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Samuel Howard Gregory and wife, Sara of Willow Spring; sisters, Esteen Gregory Smithson and husband, Noton of Virginia Beach, VA, Hearley Gregory Cox and husband, Horace of Clayton; brothers, Lyman Gregory and wife, Romaine of Angier, Fred Gregory and wife, Lou of Wake Forest; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Kearney is preceded in death by his wife and first love of 37 years, Anita Fonvielle Gregory; sisters, Madie Gregory Arrington, Lottie Gregory Sexton, Ruby Gregory Powell, Betty Gregory Armstrong; brothers, Sydney Gregory, Evis Gregory, G.W.
