Rex Tillman Yeargan

Rex Tillman Yeargan, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023. A native of Wake County, Rex was born January 31, 1937 to the late Ben Tillman and Mamie Stone Yeargan. Rex truly loved being outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and gardening. His favorite pastime was watching sports on TV, especially the New York Yankees. Most of all, he loved his family and his church.

Funeral service will be held at 6pm Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, 4440-A Piney Grove Road, Angier, NC 27501. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10:30AM, at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Rex is survived by his sons, Frankie Sorrell, Michael Sorrell and wife, Lee, and Benny Rex Yeargan and wife, Elaine; grandchildren, Chris Sorrell, Matt Sorrell and wife, Ella, David Sorrell and wife, Kaylin, Brandon Yeargan and wife, Stephanie, Evan Yeargan and wife, Katey, Morgan Yeargan, and Desiree McClamroch and husband, Johnny; great grandchildren, Valerie, Gracie, Sam, Micah, Aiden, Halei, Rylei, and Haley; and sisters, Patricia Hamilton and husband, Hubert, and Ellen Pemberton; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Holland Yeargan; and siblings, Ray Yeargan, Peggy Smith, Phyllis Yokeley, Sammy Yeargan, and Roger Yeargan.
