RALEIGH – Richard Glenn “Jack” Johnson, Sr., 93, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Garner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service; and other times at the home. Jack was born in Johnston County on January 4, 1925 to David Parker and Alma Coats Johnson. He honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII and in his later years was an avid golfer and horse enthusiast. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sisters, Fannie Belle Johnson, Lula Parrish, Retha Johnson; and brothers, James Johnson and Buck Johnson. Jack is survived by a loving family which includes his wife, Lou Johnson of 69 years; daughter, Kathi Johnson and husband, Jackie; son, Rick Johnson; grandchildren, Emily Creech and husband, Daniel, Rebecka Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Gregory Johnson, Canyon Johnson, Jacquelyn Owens; great grandchildren, Gavin Crocker and Audrey Bjorling; sister, Merle Montague and husband, Gene; brother, Billy Johnson and wife, Reta; sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Heartland Hospice. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
