April 7, 1921 - August 9, 2012 Richard H. Buddy Ferneyhough, Sr., 91, loving husband, father and friend, passed away on Thursday. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late William Todd and Rena Krumm Ferneyhough. During WWII, Buddy worked for Fairchild Aircraft building planes for the war effort. He then spent a year in Oakridge, TN working on the Manhattan Project. After completing his Masters Degree in chemistry, he worked for the state as a chemist for the next 35 years. Buddy was a faithful servant of Inwood Baptist Church for over 60 years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 3:00 pm at Inwood Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Hope Ferneyhough; daughters, Rena Ferneyhough and Jeanne Ferneyhough; son, Richard Ferneyhough and wife, Vicki, all of Raleigh; grandchildren, Katie and Tyler; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ferneyhough of Reidsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Todd Ferneyhough, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
