Ricky "Papa" Ray Haney

Fuquay-Varina- Ricky “Papa” Ray Haney, 75, of Fuquay-Varina, went to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, November 4th, surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born in Roseboro, North Carolina, to the late Hampton and Aleen Haney on June 6, 1948. Rick married the love of his life, Maria Humphrey Haney, on August 5, 1967, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Rick was an avid fisherman and had an affinity for Mustang cars. Rick retired from Martin Architectural after many years of service. Rick was a collector of many things, but clocks held his infatuation. He cheered on his favorite team, NC State Wolfpack and enjoyed fishing during his retirement, especially catching big Red Drums with his son in Galveston, Texas.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Hampton and Aleen Haney, his brothers Jackie, Michael and Stephen Haney, his sisters, Joan Wells and Patricia Edge. Rick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Haney, his daughters Melissa A Haney and Vicky R Haney and a son, Ricky Dean Haney, two granddaughters, Katharina, and Krystyna Thomas, two grandsons, William J Adams III and Everette J Russell, and two great grandsons, Oren M Griffin III and Kamdyn N Griffin. Along with many other people who knew and loved him as Papa.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to send donations to Transitions Life Care at 250 Hospice Circle in Raleigh NC.
