Angier—Richard Leroy Wells Jr., retiring plumber and avid horseman, peacefully passed away in his home after a valiant five-month battle with Leukemia. A native of Harnett County, Ricky and partner, W.C. Wilson started W & W Plumbing fall 1988. From 1977-79 he worked as a NC Wildlife Officer. In July, the Angier community came together to honor Ricky with a fundraiser—with over 350 attending! He was humbled by the community’s generosity, concern, and love for him. He loved everyone just as much. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 pm at Angier Baptist Church. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Ricky is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lil Smith Wells: sons, Richard Brady Wells of Angier, Taylor Smith Wells of Atlanta, GA; parents, Dick and Frances Greene Wells of Angier; brothers, Bob Wells and wife, Eva-Lena of Tranas, Sweden, Dexter Wells and wife, Cathy of Fuquay-Varina; brother-in-law, Burl Smith and wife, Joan of Raleigh; uncle, Jack Wells of Angier; aunt, Willie Mae Wells of Angier; nieces and nephews, Victoria and Alexander Wells, Mark and Daniel Hopkins, Lauren Smith; cousins, John Wells and Susan Chriscoe, Angier.
