FUQUAY-VARINA - Elder R. L. Fish, 83 of Fuquay-Varina died on Friday, April 19, after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Wake County, he was born on April 9, 1930 to the late Robert Lee Fish, Sr. and Sallie Moore Fish. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He also was a member of the local American Legion. He was a member of Little Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Clayton, where he served as pastor for 40 years. He also was pastor for Bethany, Bethsaida, Clement and Fellowship Primitive Baptist Churches. He also supplied at Contentnea and Lower Black Creek Churches in the Black Creek Association. He and his wife often traveled to churches and associations from the mountains to the seacoast and other states as well. He served as moderator of The Little River Association and also served on the finance committee for several years. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April, 22, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Little Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Clayton, with Elder Danny Carroll and Brother Phillip Whittington officiating. Interment will follow in the Willow Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his devoted wife of 55 years, Adylene McKinney Fish, daughters and husbands, Robin and David Dozier of Fuquay-Varina and Hope and Joe Langdon of Angier, and grandson, Kyle Burch of Garner. Also surviving are Brother-in-law and wife, Edgar and Joanne McKinney of Gibsonville, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother William and sister, Jerry Ann. The family will receive friends on Sunday, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Little River Primitive Baptist Association, c/o Craig Olive, 5278 US Hwy. 70 West Bus., Clayton, NC 27520.
