Robert Angus Bryan Jr. "Bobby"

January 10, 1955 — September 24, 2024

Bobby Bryan, 69, of Garner, NC died at the hospital on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Jean Bryan, and by his nephew Bryan Sutton. He leaves behind a wife of 25 years, Monica White Bryan, four siblings: Brenda (Rex) Sutton, Tim (Kristin) Bryan, Pat (Paul) Blackwell and Susan (David) Moffitt and a loving and large group of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bobby graduated from Wake Christian Academy in 1973. For his undergraduate degree in history, he studied at ECU, Bob Jones University, and graduated from NC State where he also finished with a teaching certificate in high school Social Studies. After teaching and coaching for one year at Wake Christian Academy, he attended law school at Wake Forest University. During his third year of law school he was injured in an automobile accident, resulting in his quadriplegia. After six months of rehab, he returned to law school part-time and was able to finish in 1982.

His first job as an attorney was with the North Carolina Department of Labor where he helped to arbitrate labor disputes. After nine years, he took a position as a staff attorney with the North Carolina Rules Review Commission. The commission later merged with the Office of Administrative Hearings, which he retired from in 2013. He would then go on to serve two terms on the Commission itself. Bobby planned to officially retire his law license in December of this year.

While doing farm chores with his Dad at the age of 12, his Dad told him it was time he seriously started thinking about what he believed and it was time for Bobby to make some decisions. That prompted Bobby to think about what he had learned in church and at home, and he made a personal decision to trust Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Years later he would take classes at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest to help him as he prepared to teach Sunday school.

Bobby loved sports, music (even though he couldn’t carry a tune), animals, westerns and his family. His favorite part of being a member of Community Baptist Church was being able to greet people as they arrived on Sunday mornings.

Visitation will be Friday evening, September 27, 2024 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Hwy 50, in Garner, NC from 6pm – 8pm. The funeral will be Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:30am at Community Baptist Church, 617 Cornwallis Rd in Garner, NC. The family will hold a private burial at another time.
