Fuquay-Varina - Robert Bob E. Marshburn, Sr., 84, of Fuquay-Varina, passed away, Friday, October 17th, 2014 at Windsor Point retirement facility.Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 21st at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Garner. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 22nd at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Garner, officiated by Salvation Army, with a brief graveside service to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Raleigh, NC.Robert was born January 25th, 1930 in Raleigh, NC to Joseph and Christine Marshburn. He graduated from Needham Broughton in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart Janet Edwards on August 25, 1950. Robert and Janet pursued ministry with the Salvation Army for several years until he entered the private sector. After successful jobs in sales in plumbing and pump supply, Robert and Janet bought Rawls Pump and Supply Company in 1966 and ran the company for 24 years until selling to their Daughter and Son-in-Law in 1990 and retiring. Robert and Janet were both very active in the Shrine and Masonic lodges outside of work. Robert was a founding member and served as recorder for Amran Temple helping to build the temple during the 70s through the 2000s. Robert also served on the board of governors for the Greenville Shriners Hospital ascending to president and achieving emeritus status. Through the years he enjoyed his work with the Shriners, flying, computers and visiting with his children and grand children.Robert is survived by his wife, Janet Marshburn of Fuquay Varina, daughter Juliana Mingia of Cary and son Robert E. Marshburn Jr. of Raleigh; His brother Josh Marshburn of Sanford, NC, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters Diane Marshburn and Lynn Neighbors, and parents Joseph and Christine Marshburn.
