GARNER - Robert F. “Bob” Cholerton, 79, passed away Tuesday June 2, 2020. He was born on October 28, 1940 in Nova Scotia, Canada and resided for the last 48 years in Garner, NC. He was adopted and raised by the late Wilford and Virginia Cholerton and spent most of his childhood in Manteo, NC. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School from the two year old class all the way through to the 90 year old class and taught his last class on May 24, 2020 via Zoom from his favorite chair at home. His favorite times were spent in the company of his 4 grandchildren and the many trips that the entire family spent at the Outer Banks. He also enjoyed fishing, wood working, a good book, mowing his lawn, and tending his gardens. The family is comforted by knowing he is no longer suffering and is in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Frances Cholerton; son, Jimmy Cholerton and wife, Claudia; daughter Wanda Lucas, her husband, Ed; daughter Susan Stancil, her husband, Buster. Grandchildren McLean Lucas, his wife Lauren, Cameron Lucas, Blake Cholerton and Hope Cholerton. And lastly his steady companion, his little dog, Snickers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Brown and brother-in-law, Rudy Brown. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice and the doctors and nurses at Rex Cancer Center in Garner. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to First Baptist Church of Garner’s E3:20 Fund or Community of Hope Ministries in Garner, NC. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Garner. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. A private burial will take place at a later time.
