WILLOW SPRING - Robert Hal Rue, 62, died Wednesday as a result of a work related accident on Monday. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The family will greet friends following the service. Hal was born in Cumberland County on August 6, 1952 and was son of the late William (Bert) Rue and Nell Canady Rue. He graduated from Cary High School in 1971 and became a certified electrician. At the time of his untimely death, he was currently working at the North Carolina Department of Administration Archives building. He loved his co-workers, family and friends and was always there to help anyone in any way he could. Surviving are his wife, Marlene Cutler Rue; son, Clint Rue of the home; daughter, Heather Rue Sanderford and her husband, Bryne of Wendell; sister, Faye Rue McElveen and her husband, Rock; brothers, Bill Rue and his wife, Teresa and Johnny Rue and his wife, Amy. Hal is also survived by several nieces and nephews that he enjoyed as well. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Rue Greenough. Hal was to retire August 1, 2015 and move with his wife to a home they were completing in just a few short months. He looked forward to spending the rest of his retirement life in Belhaven and live the life he always dreamed. He looked forward to building an even closer relationship with God, his family and community. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
