RALEIGH- Robert Ingram Barnes III, 39, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015. “Rob” was born on October 27, 1975 to Barbara J. Barnes and Robert I. Barnes, Jr. and recently resided in Raleigh. He was employed with Aflac Insurance Company for 18 years and a graduate of Greenville Christian Academy and a member of Jarvis United Methodist Church in Greenville. An active outdoorsman, Rob enjoyed fishing and many sports, but his greatest love was baseball. He went through the baseball program in Greenville, NC and was currently coaching in the Greenville Babe Ruth Summer Baseball League. Rob was an avid supporter of the Tennessee Titans and the UNC Tarheels. He always called his mom when UNC and Duke played basketball. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 20th at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh with the Rev. Carol Goehring officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 19th from 4-6:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. In addition to his parents, Rob is survived by his son, Robert Ingram “Gram” Barnes IV; sisters Laura Anne Petersen and Amy Lynn Hossfeld and his brother, Edwin Douglas Barnes. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elfreda and Hubert Edward Johnson and paternal grandparents, Robert Ingram Barnes, Sr. and Kathryn Elizabeth Barnes.
