GARNER- Rev. Robert L. Collins, 74, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at his home in Garner surrounded by his family. Born in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Rev. Richard L. Collins and Mattie M. Collins. He retired from Fayetteville State University where he served as the Radio Television Engineer for 37 years. He was an ordained Southern Baptist minister and served both as Pastor and Minister of Music to several congregations. He was an amazing husband, father, papa and friend who touched the lives of many, both personally and in ministry. He was a gifted musician and teacher who loved and served God, his family and other people. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bettie Jo Hicks Collins; 3 daughters, Melissa Scott and husband, Steve, Christa Pratt and husband, Tim, Robin Mangum, and husband Eric; 7 grandchildren, Collin Scott, Ashley Scott, Cara Pratt, Claire Mangum, Chloe Mangum, Anna Pratt and Ethan Mangum; and sister, Rose Collins Winslow. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard L. Collins, Jr. and Francis M. Collins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Garner, NC. Burial will follow at Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, NC at 2:00 PM.
